Who is running for us in our first ever Bath Half ?

Bath Half Marathon

Help Support Our Work In The Community

For the first time ever we have charity places in the Bath Half Marathon for 2025!

We are delighted to have two significant figures from the club supporting us in our first ever entry into the Bath Half Marathon to raise funding for the Foundation.

Bath City FC Manager Darren Way & Club Legend Jim Rollo are running for us!

When we launched our Bath Half campaign, we couldn’t believe the first name to signup! it was Jim Rollo. It really shows the type of person Jim is that we didn’t even need to approach him to take part in the event. Having Jim involved in our first ever foray into fundraising events like this is a massive plus for the Foundation and shows how much the Club, Foundation and Community means to Jim.

After that we didn’t think it could get any better but it did….! The then newly appointed manager Darren Way came into the Foundation office to meet our CEO. It was clear from the conversations that Darren appreciates the work and value of community delivery and a Clubs Foundation. When Darren was in the office conversations were had on how both sides of the organisation could support each other. The Bath Half fundraiser was discussed and Darren asked how he or the first team could help. We asked if he and the team could raise awareness through sharing on social media, You should of seen our faces when Darren asked when it was and he would run it for us!

This is a massive gesture from someone who had just stepped into a role with a lot of pressure for results, but the also the task of getting to know all the players, staff and volunteers. It would of been easy for Darren to take the option of social media sharing but true to what he asks of his players he has taken himself out of his comfort zone to help the Foundation.

After having Jim sign up, then his former Bath City FC teammate Matt Coupe signed up to support Jim and the Foundation, unfortunately Matt had to withdraw through injury, we couldn’t believe our luck to have Darren step up to the plate and offer to run for us.

Alongside Jim and Darren we have a great mix of staff, fans and some individuals, who until now not been part of the Club or Foundation in anyway and have embraced everything that it means to be part of the Bath City FC family.

We can’t thank all those taking part in the Bath Half for us enough. So please make their efforts worth while and make a donation to either an individual in our fundraisers team or direct to the team pot. If you want to donate to Darren his donations are going straight into the team pot.

Next Year we aim to increase the number of places available so please keep your eyes open for further information.

All funds raised will go directly to us and help to continue delivery of our community projects.

Last year we engaged with over 3,700 members of our community in Twerton and the wider BaNES area. Our Foundation is located in one of the most deprived areas of the country and is often overlooked, because of the international image of Bath. This leaves many unaware of the need for our provision.

Our work goes beyond football as we work with people aged between 3 and 98! This could be delivering in schools, our crime prevention workshops, 1-2-1 mentoring, pan disability sessions, walking football, social inclusion for seniors, women’s and girl’s participation and more.

Our aim is to enable positive change in our community which improves residents’ mental and physical health and wellbeing. Funding such as this is extremely hard to come by for organisations like ours so every £1 you raise will really make a difference!
