Honorary Foundation President

Ken Loach Bath City FC Honorary President

Ken Loach

Ken Loach was born in 1936 in Nuneaton. He attended King Edward VI Grammar School and went on to study law at St. Peter's Hall, Oxford. After a brief spell in the theatre, Ken was recruited by the BBC in 1963 as a television director. This launched a long career directing films for television and the cinema, from Cathy Come Home and Kes in the sixties to Land And Freedom, Sweet Sixteen, The Wind That Shakes The Barley (Palme d’Or, Cannes Film Festival 2006), Looking for Eric, The Angels’ Share and I, Daniel Blake (Palme d’Or, Cannes Film Festival 2016).

If he's not bothering people about their yawning or their chosen shade of off white paint, he's likely on the Twerton Park terraces yelling at his beloved Bath City Football Club.

Ken Loach Foundation President
“I am truly honoured to be the first ambassador for Bath City FC Foundation. As an Olympian, I understand first hand the incredible impact sport has on shaping lives, building communities, and inspiring change. Sport teaches resilience, teamwork, and discipline—values that extend far beyond the playing field. I’m thrilled to support an organization that shares my passion for empowering individuals through the power of sport.”
— Amy Williams

Foundation Ambassador

Amy Williams MBE

We are delighted to have Amy as our first ever Foundation Ambassador.

Amy is a Bath local having been educated at Beechen Cliff School, Hayesfield School and the University of Bath. Amy still lives in the area now and has two boys and the newest addition to the family, Monty a chaotic Vizla puppy.

Most people will associate Amy with the high adrenalin and extremely skilful winter sport of Skeleton. Amy made the transition from track athlete to the winter sport in 2002, after trying the sport at the University of Bath’s push start track.

Amy was unable to qualify for the 2006 Winter Olympics as Team GB were limited to a single skeleton athlete. Shelly Rudman won this place. Despite this Amy won silver at her first major event in the 2009 World Championships.

In 2010 Amy qualified for the Winter Olympics and went on to achieve the incredible feat of winning Olympic Gold but that’s only part of the story. Amy broke the track record twice and won by over half a second which is a massive victory in this sport. In addition, Amy was the only medallist for Team GB at these games, the first Team GB solo Winter Olympic champion in 30 years and the first female Team GB Winter Olympian in 58 years to win an Individual Gold.

Amy has gone on to have a career in sports broadcasting and the media, presenting on TV including The Gadget Show, Ski Sunday, Eurosport and the Isle Of Man TT. Amy’s thirst for an adrenalin rush has continued; Amy qualified as an International rally co-driver, and competed in the Wales GB Rally in 2013 and 2016, and added her motorbike licence in 2018 too.

Amy was recognised for her services to sport in 2010, receiving an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours and was installed as an Honorary Freeman of the City of Bath in June 2010.

Amy has established her own business in the area as a Personal Trainer and Online Coaching helping others achieve their goals.

The Foundation is honoured and proud to have Amy as our first Ambassador, we hope this will help us reach members of the community that we have not engaged with before, extending awareness of the Foundation outside of the football community.

Amy’s enthusiasm and energy is infectious and her passion for a healthy and active community aligns with our aims making this a perfect fit for both. Being a bath girl and still local to the area, and someone that has reached the pinnacle of her sport, will hopefully inspire another generation of the Bath community to achieve their goals.
